She was halfway down the field mid-way through the race and muscled out other runners as she approached the finish line.Her jockey, Glen Boss, was choked with emotion after the race. "What a mare," he said, through tears.
Trainer Lee Freedman, who has shied away with comparisons to between Diva and the legendary Phar Lap in the run-up to today's race, said: "I don't want to talk down Phar Lap. But he never won three Melbourne Cups."
