Maude gets the good oil

By ROBYN RILEY from Herald-Sun

HER surname is Garrett and she likes to sing, but don't expect the 19-year-old niece of Midnight Oil lead singer and politician Peter Garrett to follow in his footsteps.

Maude GarrettMaude Garrett has plans for fame, but not as a rock star. The girl voted at school the student most likely to become famous has her sights set on a television career.
This week Garrett was named the new host of Nickelodeon's Camp Orange, a children's reality television series.
"It is awesome," Garrett said in her first media interview. "I still can't believe it."

She said her uncle had offered some advice. "He has been very supportive and told me to hold my own and not to be swamped."
She may not have inherited her uncle's passion for singing in public, but she has that famous tenacity. To win the role as host of Camp Orange she left a note on the computer of the boss of Nickelodeon and asked if she could do an audition. It paid off.

  • I think that Maude is going to be an excellent host for Camp Orange, although I don't have access to the show, I know she will do well.
