Dreamtime at the G
The Essendon and Richmond football clubs today officially launched ‘Dreamtime at the G’ – a tribute to the contribution the Indigenous community has made to the game of Australian Rules football. It is envisaged this tribute match will become an annual celebration played between the two sides whose colors make up the aboriginal flag.
It is also fitting that the inaugural 'Dreamtime at the G' game falls during NAIDOC week – the nationwide celebration of the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders.
Indigenous footballers are playing an increasingly important role in AFL football. Twenty-five years ago there were just nine Aboriginals playing AFL football – today there are 52-listed Aboriginal players.
Names such as Rioli, Long and Wanganeen have paved the way for the new breed – Tambling, Krakouer and Lovett. And increasingly these are the players bringing the fans through the gate. Read Full Article

there is more exciting players then tambling (who has played 2 games), Kraker jnr (only appeears when his side is doin well) and lovett(played one good anzac day game). What about Daniel Wells possibly the best aboriganal goin around if not, some say the best ever (not yet in my book).Andrew Walker playin well every week taggin a big name player (AKA and McCloud, who are 2 great playas).jeff farmer, Adam Goodes and Chris Johnson (3 Premieirships, which he stared in)
