Dave Matthews Works With Verizon

Dave Matthews Band will join Verizon Reads in New York this weekend.

Verizon has a commitment to championing literacy in the United States and Matthews and his band will join the cause this weekend to help hand-out 10,000 books to children who otherwise would not have access to literature.

40 million Americans have low literacy skills. "The lack of access to books has been noted as a leading cause of illiteracy among children in America," explained Andrew Brown, president -- Verizon Reads. "While it is essential to highlight illiteracy, Verizon Reads, Dave Matthews Band and Clear Channel Entertainment together are unlocking the promise of literacy by putting books in the hands of children who otherwise might not have access to these essential tools for academic and personal development."

Last year, the Verizon Reads initiative distributed more than one million books in America.

AUSSIE SOLUTION TO FIGHTING TERRORISM PART 2

I hope nobody forgot "AN AUSSIE SOLUTION TO FIGHTING TERRORISM" was today.

This was the National day of loyalty where Australian women were encouraged to walk around the neighbourhood nude at 4pm while Australian men sat on lawn chairs watching and drinking beer.

It's got to do with the Koran, and how it doesn't allow Muslims to see naked women or drink alcohol. For more information read this.

I didn't forget the occasion, and I took a picture.

Click here to see it. But be warned, there is obviously nudity.

I live in a great neighbourhood!!

The Man Is Getting Old

---Sir James.---

YEE HAW!!!

Based on the hit television series that ran from 1979-85, The Dukes of Hazzard is written by Jonathan Davis, with revisions by John O'Brien and Broken Lizard.

Set in present day, the story follows the adventures of "good old boy" cousins, Bo (Seann William Scott) and Luke (Johnny Knoxville) Duke, who with the help of their eye-catching cousin Daisy (Jessica Simpson) and moonshine running Uncle Jesse (Willie Nelson), try and save the family farm from being destroyed by Hazzard County's corrupt commissioner Boss Hogg (Burt Reynolds).

Their efforts constantly find the "Duke Boys" eluding authorities in "The General Lee," their famed 1969 orange Dodge Charger that keeps them one step ahead of the dimwitted antics of the small southern town's Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane (M.C. Gainey).

5 Steps to the Perfect Beer

How to pour the perfect beer.

..........Image Hosted by ImageShack.us .......The glass: Get a proper beer glass; one that's a good full shape and curves in a little at the top to trap the beer's aromas. Take one of these, make sure it is scrupulously clean, and chill it in the fridge for an hour or so.

..........Image Hosted by ImageShack.us .......The beer: Beer is never better than when it is delivered from the brewer. It does not improve with age; in fact, over time it will lose some of the crispness of it's flavour. So, for the perfect beer, choose a bottle that hasn't been hanging around the house too long.

..........Image Hosted by ImageShack.us .......The temperature: This varies with personal taste and with the style of beer. For most Australian lager-style beers, something around typical household refrigerator temperatures (2 to 3 deg C) is fine.

..........Image Hosted by ImageShack.us .......Pouring: Slosh some beer into the bottom of the glass to form a head. Then gently pour the beer directly onto the foam to break any large bubbles and pack the head. Leave for a short period to "age" the foam, then tilt the glass and fill carefully. Straighten the glass as it fills and keep pouring until the collar or head just froths over the rim of the glass.

..........Image Hosted by ImageShack.us .......Tip: The bitterness of the hops tends to be most concentrated in the foam of the head, so if you like a good hit of hops to jolt the tastebuds, give yourself a more generous head and sip the beer through it.

..........Image Hosted by ImageShack.us .......Savouring the beer: Bring the glass to your lips and inhale gently to take in the aroma of the beer. This will awaken your tastebuds to the flavours that are to follow. Then sip, letting the cool beer flow over the tongue so you savour the full complexity of the flavour. Perfect!

Music Clips Are Back

The music clips have made a return to WNASF, in the sidebar.
But now they have a stop button.
So if you don't want to listen to the music, you don't have to.
Also, I will be taking requests.

AN AUSSIE SOLUTION TO FIGHTING TERRORISM

Big thanks to Scott for this addition.
We all know that it is a sin for an Islamic male to see any woman other than his wife naked, and that he must commit suicide if he does.

So next Sunday at 4:00 PM Eastern time, all Australian women are asked, no duty bound as citizens with national loyalty, to walk out of their houses completely naked to help weed out any neighborhood terrorists.

Circling your block for one hour is recommended for this anti-terrorist effort. All men are to position themselves in lawn chairs in front of their house to prove they are not terrorists, and to demonstrate that they think it's okay to see nude women other than their wife and to show support for all Australian women.

And since the Koran also does not approve of alcohol, a cold six-pack of beer at your side is further proof of your anti-terrorist sentiment.

Foo Fighters Announce Australian Tour For November

It's the news we've all been hanging out for - Foo Fighters will be touring Australia later this year! The guys hinted at a return visit when they were out in June, and now we can confirm they'll be here in November to give us all a lesson in rock!

The much anticipated 'In Your Honor' Tour kicks off in late November and will include arena concerts in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne plus a headline spot at Perth's RockIt Festival. If their insane secret gig at The Metro in Sydney earlier in the year was anything to go by, this is one tour you're not going to want to miss.

The Foo Fighters have made the ARIA charts their own this year, this week holding the number one album spot in Australia for the fifth week in a row - something no-one else has done this year!

The 'In Your Honor' Tour has yet to be previewed anywhere in the world, but it promises of an awesome set as well as top notch production. And with the band's history of unforgettable live shows, this will be a necessity for any self-respecting rock fan.

I have to buy a boat.

If all of the ice in the world were to melt and water levels rose 60m, this is what Victoria would look like.
I'll be alright because my house is on a hill.

It's the end of the world..........for some

If nobody kicks up a stink, then nothing will happen.

Look, I've never really been a Union kind of person but I have to say, seeing what the Howard Government is going to do to Workers rights is starting to make me a little angry.
visit this websiteI urge any Australian visitor to WNASF to visit this site and read a little bit of what Howard is going to do.
Can anybody tell me who benefits from this plan aside from company shareholders.

It seems to me that Mr Howard has hated unions for all of his 30 year political career and is only now making these changes because he can, due to the handing over of power in the Senate.

Peter Garrett's NAIDOC Week

Image Hosted by ImageShack.usNAIDOC Week has kicked off for the year and on Tuesday Peter Garrett attended a local celebration at La Perouse, while on Wednesday he visited Prince of Wales Hospital, which hosted its own celebration.

NAIDOC Week gives all Australians a chance to celebrate and promote greater understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and Indigenous culture.

This year’s theme is ‘Our Future begins with Solidarity’, and in his new role as Parliamentary Secretary for Reconciliation and the Arts it was Pete's great privilege to join our local Indigenous community in recognising and celebrating Indigenous culture.

Dreamtime at the G

Dreamtime at the G

The Essendon and Richmond football clubs today officially launched ‘Dreamtime at the G’ – a tribute to the contribution the Indigenous community has made to the game of Australian Rules football. It is envisaged this tribute match will become an annual celebration played between the two sides whose colors make up the aboriginal flag.

.

It is also fitting that the inaugural 'Dreamtime at the G' game falls during NAIDOC week – the nationwide celebration of the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders.
Indigenous footballers are playing an increasingly important role in AFL football. Twenty-five years ago there were just nine Aboriginals playing AFL football – today there are 52-listed Aboriginal players.
Names such as Rioli, Long and Wanganeen have paved the way for the new breed – Tambling, Krakouer and Lovett. And increasingly these are the players bringing the fans through the gate.
